Fishing – Capt. Don Kohlmayer gave an excellent presentation of Fripp Inshore/Near Shore fishing on 9/13. He covered the main 14 species of fish – the type ofrigs to use, the best baits or lures & where to fish for each category. He also had about 8-10 rods to demo as he went along. Everyone enjoyed their ‘learning curve’ & he was great at answering the ques. Surely, he would be a good recommendation for guests on the island wanting to have a professional experience. The weather was great for the KingfishTourn but the catch was low. The FI Invitational tourney started off Fri night with a great Frogmore Cookout by Chef Doolittle. (The tourney brought in $3000 for the Cancer Society). The winners were Capt Hank Simmons of Bft, then Capt Hamp Manning of Augusta GA.The Spanish Mackrel winners were Capt R Wallace ofBft and Capt Turbeville of Coumbia.Upcoming tournaments include the 11/5 Inshore Owen Perry Tourn & the kids Fishing Thanksgiving Tournament of Fri 11/25.Redfish are starting to pick up – as well as whiting & flounder. Chuck & I caught our maximum # of Spot Tail throughout the Fall Months and they averaged 23" in length - great eating (filled the freezer).
